A Glimpse of January 2025

January Recap: Weddings, Celebrations, and Winter Adventures

The first month of 2025 set the tone for an exciting and fulfilling year for Designory Beauty. From weddings to personal celebrations, January was packed with beautiful moments, elegant makeup looks, and a touch of adventure.

A Wedding at Home in Mt. Pleasant

Kicking off the month, I had the pleasure of providing makeup services for a wedding on January 3 at a stunning family home in Mt. Pleasant. I worked on five clients that day, but one of my absolute favorite looks was a smokey brown soft glam for a bridesmaid. It was effortlessly elegant—sophisticated yet soft, adding just the right amount of drama to complement the romantic setting.

A Tuesday Love Story at Hotel Bennett

Mid-month, on January 14, I had the honor of working with a beautiful Tuesday bride at Hotel Bennett in Downtown Charleston. This wedding was a testament to fate—two people who had met many years ago but had been taken in different directions by life finally found their way back to one another. It was a truly heartwarming occasion!

For this special day, I did the bride’s daughter’s makeup, as well as hair and makeup for the mother of the groom—who, I have to say, bore such a striking resemblance to Meryl Streep that I had to do a double take! It was a joy to be a part of such a meaningful day and bring out the natural beauty of these wonderful women.

A Cozy Winter Birthday Bash

January wasn’t just about weddings—it was also a time for family celebrations! Early in the month, we hosted my son’s second birthday party, which was a joint celebration with his cousin turning one. We kept things cozy and delicious with homemade potato and broccoli soups and a hearty chili to warm up all our guests. It was a sweet and intimate gathering, filled with love and laughter.

A Girls' Trip to Hendersonville, NC

In honor of my mom’s birthday, I took a girls' trip to Hendersonville, NC, for a little getaway. We embraced the winter vibes and indulged in fantastic food—dining at Postero for American fare paired with incredible wine, then brunching at Arabella’s, where the American-Latin fusion breakfast did not disappoint. It was the perfect escape!

A 1920s-Inspired Soirée

Back in Charleston, The Gallery Salon (where I spend some of my weekdays) embraced a roaring ‘20s theme for our holiday party, held at Honeysuckle Rose on Fishburne Street. The wine and tasting menu was absolutely divine! I went all out with my look—donning a beaded fringe dress, accessorizing with opera gloves and a luxurious black fur coat, and styling my hair in soft pin curls a la Zendaya at the Golden Globes 2025. I also discovered my new winter wardrobe essential: Noosh fleece-lined tights! If you want warmth while maintaining a sheer, polished look, I highly recommend them.

Preparing for My Branding Shoot

The month wrapped up with preparations for my branding shoot. I spent time scouting models, selecting dresses, and curating the hair and makeup styles I wanted to showcase for Designory Beauty. Initially planned for the last weekend of January, we ended up postponing due to an unexpected snowstorm in the Lowcountry—yes, snow in Charleston! But that just means February will bring even more excitement.

All in all, January was a month of new beginnings, cherished memories, and setting the stage for growth in both my personal life and Designory Beauty. Here’s to more beauty, love, and creativity in the months ahead!

XO, Rachel
